Before: The L-shaped countertop cut the room in half breaking up the floor plan and natural flow of the room. The arrangement of the cabinets didn’t make full use of the vertical space, making the ceilings feel lower and the kitchen seem small and dark.
After: What a difference! Although the square footage of this room did not change, it feels much larger. Floating the island in the middle created an open, airy space. Bright white subway tile laid in a herringbone pattern all the way up to the ceiling lends a modern touch that also helps the room feel taller. Floating shelves take the place of traditional cabinets on one wall, allowing for both fun and function.
